Flooring industry: Conica expands business in Asia Pacific The Swiss Conica AG is one of the world market leaders in sports & leisure flooring. The company implements more than 250 athletic track projects per year and employs roughly 180 people worldwide. Production is located in Switzerland and Great Britain, with sales all over Europe, Africa, America and the Middle East. The company is now making the big leap into the Asian market and has brought on board Germain Thomas, who has been active in the Asian market since 2006 as a Regional Director for other companies. For a long time, Conica believed that the Asian market was the market for the future. With a regional focus strategy on emerging and mature markets Conica plans to penetrate the market with strong partners. Conica believes in the potential for sports and leisure facilities such as running tracks, multi-purpose fields, playground sections or also activity tracks to raise up the profile of landscaping in urban environment. Also, Conica is convinced in becoming an important player to push the athletic sports in the region with their though leading running track systems. To expand in this geographically large and culturally diverse region, Conica has been looking for the right partner for a long time. The company has recently appointed Germain Thomas (39) as director for Southeast and Northeast Asia and Oceania. Germain knows the business mindset and best practices in Asia and has been working and living in the region since 2006. Since then, he has been in Taiwan, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and since 2014, in Malaysia from where he will lead the Conica Asian business operations. In the first phase, his task will be to set up and expand Conica's Asian partner network. This includes application companies that help with the implementation of projects, as well as distribution partners, project developers, architects and potential end customers. The overall goal is to get closer to the market and support the local partners that share Conica’s vision.
